Hot topics: the Top 5 most popular articles on Free Range Humans

by Marianne Cantwell

The Free Range community has been growing ‘on speed’ lately! New readers, new weekly love-letter recipients, new Twitter followers

I get excited about each new follower (that means I’m excited a lot of the time). So, being nosy, I checked in for a peek on what you’ve been reading. What ARE the most popular posts on this website?

The answers surprised me: let’s see what you think.

Here’s what Free Range Humans have been reading

These are the top 5 most viewed posts over the last 3 months (with an insider peek at why I wrote them)

5. Top 5 Happiest Jobs (will they make YOU happy?)

Coming in at number 5, this article was posted only two days ago! It is already zooming up the rankings so obviously hitting a nerve.

I wrote this because I have always been sceptical of the ‘happiest jobs’ lists, and wanted to articulate why they don’t exactly feel right.

Funnily enough, despite the popularity of this post, I didn’t even have the space to write down my many thoughts around this topic, and felt I barely scratched the surface.. so am thinking of doing a video follow up.

Am I right? Drop me a line in the comments to let me know your take!

4. Why you need to play out of your league

A fun post, correlating dating hotter-than-thou people with going for an impossibly awesome work lifestyle. And why you should do it too.

(Though if you knew the real reason I wrote this you’d be rolling around laughing. No, I’m not telling :) )

3. Startup in a Box. The 4 Things You Need to Start Your Own Business.

So many people tell me that it must be really expensive to start your own business. So one day I decided to write a post to show that it isn’t. Especially when you go free range! Here’s what you need to get started easily.

2. Why Visualising Your Perfect Future DOESN’T Work (And Other Self Help Myths Busted)

This is a recording of the moment I got my favourite author to talk to me… just before he conducted a mock séance in an eerie building full of stuffed animals (classic way of doing an interview really). Interview with Richard Wiseman (author of 59 Seconds).

1. Career change story: from PA to personal stylist

And the number one spot goes to… a video interview with an inspirational real-life career changer! I’ve done a bunch of these career change interviews but Lizzie’s story is a consistent hit.

If you think you can’t start working for yourself because you have no business experience, then you need to watch this video.

Get free of the cubicle with my free weekly love letter to wanna-be Free Rangers and career changers: It’s a mix of adoration and butt kicking, packed with exclusive tips (stuff that’s not posted here) to start creating your I-want-it-now Free Range work-life in 2012.
