This is the third in a series of interviews with inspirational career changers. “They did it, so can you” maps out how people – just like you – made the move from ‘regular’ jobs, to a dream career.
Robin used to work in finance, until her job at an ill-fated Icelandinc financial institution was made redundant in the financial crisis.
Unlike many, Robin did not let her redundancy get her down: she grabbed the opportunity to build up what is now a well regarded cake business, specialising in wedding and special events.
Since leaving her finance job, Robin has gathered a team of cake specialists, had her cakes featured in leading wedding magazines and in Harrods’ window displays, and she has recently acquired a shop premises where you can sample Robin’s cakes even if you are not getting married!
(BTW this was recorded on-the-job in Robin’s new shop, so listen out for the ambient noises toward the end!)
